It’s finally arrived, the time to send out the final race instructions and we are all getting very excited! Please take time to read and digest the information as this will help prevent any confusion on the day.
It’s likely to be hot so please be prepared. Dress appropriately and ensure you keep hydrated. If you feel unwell prior to the run, consider whether you are in a good enough shape to start. There will always be another event you can do so please don’t risk your health. Remember sunscreen, hats and any inhalers/medication.
Registration, Number Collection & Tee Shirt Collection
There are two options:
The first is Saturday 29th June 2019 between 1.00pm & 3pm at Tempo Run Shop, 67 Susan’s Rd, Eastbourne, BN21 3TG. As a bonus, the owner, Wes Mechen, has kindly agreed to offer all competitors a 15% discount on running products for this day only. Collection of numbers on Saturday is advisable if you are local.
Alternately, for those from out of town, you can collect numbers Sunday 30th June 2019 between 0740 and 0840 at Race Headquarters located on the middle promenade, 5 metres west of the Eastbourne Bandstand opposite The Cavendish Hotel on Grand Parade. Please allow a little extra time if you are collecting your number on the day and kindly move away from the main Race HQ area after collection to ease congestion.
For those who have purchased a Tee shirt, these will be available to collect when you pick up your number.
You are welcome to leave your baggage in the baggage hold at Race HQ. However, you do so at your own risk and although there are volunteers keeping an eye on baggage we cannot be held responsible for any losses.
Situated on the middle promenade, opposite the Cavendish Hotel (BN21 4DH), approximately 80 metres west of the Eastbourne Bandstand.
This will possibly be tricky! There is seafront and local street parking but it will be limited. Not all parking is free and the parking attendants are very keen so where needed, ensure you put enough money in to cover your run time. Where possible car share, use public transport, cycle, jog or walk to the start. There is free parking along the seafront if you are prepared to have a 10 -20 min walk to the start.
There are a number of toilets available near the start, west of the Bandstand. These will be open and should be free of charge (as kindly agreed by the council) however, we suggest popping 20p in your pocket just in case!
Start Time 0900
Please be ready on the start line at 08:50. Stand in a position that will reflect your predicted race time i.e if you think you will take over 60 mins to complete the run, please don’t stand at the front for safety reasons. The quicker more experienced runners will self – seed and stand at the front. The run will quickly thin out after the first 400 metres giving everyone plenty of space. The event is chip timed so your time starts once you have crossed the start line.

This is not a closed course which means other people will be using the seafront. Please keep to the left hand side of the route at all times and be respectful to other users. The course is well marshalled at key points and there are km signs, arrows and caution signs.
Route info: Starting on the upper prom between the RNLI Museum and the Bandstand the run heads west along the seafront towards Holywell. At Holywell it turns back and heads east along the seafront on the lower level passing the Wish Tower, Bandstand and Pier. The route continues past Fisherman’s Green rejoining the seafront at Buzz Watersports Centre. Shortly after the Sovereign Centre it turns and retraces the same route back towards and past the Pier. At the slope by the RNLI museum the route turns right, up the slope back towards the start on the upper prom for the last 300m before reaching the finish. There will be a lead bike to keep the race safe and to show the front runners the way!
Cut off time
You have 2 hours to complete the run. We have a friendly tail runner who will help to keep things safe and moving along.
Once you have crossed the finish line you will be given your medal. Water, bananas, protein balls and other goodies are also available and will be given out by our wonderful volunteers. Please vacate the finish area ASAP so we can keep things moving for the other runners coming in. There are plenty of viewing points on the seafront to cheer on the other finishers.
There is an array of kiosks and cafes in the locality to get your teas, coffees, bacon baps or ice cream!
The talented local photographer Liam Dyson will be out on the course snapping you in action. Please register in advance to receive notification that your photos are ready.

Prize giving will take place at 10:15 for the first 3 male and female finishers next to race HQ. The results will be based on the gun time.
Prize giving for age group winners will take place at 11:00 next to race HQ. The first male and female in the following age bands will receive a prize:-
If an age group winner is also in the top 3 overall position, they will forfeit their age group prize and it will be awarded to the 2nd place age group finisher.
This will be located at approximately the 5km point before Fisherman’s Green & water will be in plastic cups. This will be kindly managed by the Eastbourne Sea Cadets. Please dispose of your cups as directed on the day and do not litter the seafront.
